Information and Registration
CJC Parent Summer Learn-to-Row is designed expressly for CJC parents who would like a better understanding of this unique sport that their athlete loves. At the end of the program, parents will:
** Understand rowing terminology and be able to talk to their athlete about practice (using words and phrases like "caught a crab", "seat racing", "piece", "seat number", etc)
** Be able to use an indoor rowing machine (erg) without embarrassing their CJC rower
** Understand rowing safety
** Learn how to carry a boat down to the dock, add oars, and get in (it's harder than it looks!)
** Take your first strokes on the water
** Learn more about working as a team
Each session will include five 2-hour meetings for groups of up to 10 adults and will include a combination of off- and on-water activities led by your very own CJC coach.
Sessions are scheduled to allow parents to drop their athlete/camper at the reservoir for a summer session and then stick around for their own introduction to rowing. Or, if your CJC athlete is out of town for the summer, surprise them when they return with your sudden understanding of rowing by participating in this program!
Sessions are held Monday-Friday, 8am-10:15am at the Boulder Reservoir. Parents who get hooked on the sport and want to keep going after the week is up can graduate to rowing with our sister Masters program, Boulder Community Rowing.
